News of YHACs Yorkshire and Humberside Civic Societies.
AGM is at Leeds January 25 11am - 12.30 in the Wheeler Hall of St Ann`s RC Cathedral (entrance between Great George St and Dudley St). It is interesting to find out what other Civic Societies are doing and thinking. This is followed 2.00 to 4.00pm by a regional meeting of the national body Civic Voice with Guest Speaker Tony Burton Director of Civic Voice.
Civic Voice has been very active in opposing the Localism Bill and also creating a Parliamentary body of support from MP`s for Civic Societies.
This is a good opportunity to attend both events and catch the moment.
Offers to represent us to Mike Potter.

The Wonder of Norway: Trondheim Cathedral, St Olaf and connections with York Minster

Trondheim Cathedral was a semi-ruin by the mid 19th century. The subsequent restoration of the building, which was meticulously recorded, took over a hundred years. The cathedral was the greatest medieval church in Norway and was the focus of the cult of St Olaf until the Lutheran Reformation of 1537. The shrine of St Olaf was housed in the unusual Octagon Chapel at the east end. The grand ambitious architecture of the cathedral was distinctly influenced by York Minster in the 12th century and Lincoln Minster in the 13th. Recent study has highlighted the links with York and also the architectural development and repairs to the Octagon.
